行Yao by Tiffany Yao @ Detention Barracks

Some select snaps of the solo art exhibition “行Yao” by artist Tiffany Yao @ Detention Barracks (@ 56B Joo Chiat Place S427780, Singapore) is currently viewable both in the video I made (featured above), as well as in this dedicated album on Facebook.

Launched Feb 10th, the artwork showcases images seen on Tiffany’s travels - including Vietnam, Malaysia, Asia and United States too, and the sights and evocative visuals of Singapore (including Haw Par Villa) - where she shares with viewers glimpses of her memories, since captured in artwork achieved by color pencils, producing a depth of silent stories intriguing, deceptively mundane, and even delectable!

From gallery space owner, Yeo Hon Beng, who shared that one of her more popular and asked about artwork was the illustration of a plate of “prata” alongside a cup teh/tea - as part of a “triptych” collection of food-themed images - which has since been spoken for.

The images seen here are less “abstract” than “slice of everyday life”, and nothing is as evocative in Singapore than “food” LOL

The framed images are the result of long intensive hours’ worth effort and skills, for which I had asked Tiffany which was her “favourite” piece of art … her answer being “All of them.”

Thank you for sharing with us, Tiffany :)

Besides the original artwork framed on the wall, a Postcard Set (featuring 5 x artworks), limited edition printed tees and stickers as well can be procured at the exhibition venue.

Exhibiting thru Feb 26th, folks interested to arrange for a Private Viewing are to contact Instagram @yeonardo or PM “Hon Beng” on Facebook.

Equipped with 20 years of traditional art training and practice, Tiffy has built a strong foundation in understanding rudimentary modes of creation and having an eye for details.
