How To Get Your Keys If Dropped In-Between The Gaps of Your HDB Lift?

This is what happens if you dropped your keys into the gap between your HDB lift and your HDB lift landing:

OPTION #1:
Contact the number engraved on the Lift (maintenance) indicated above saod lift in Lift Landing. Make sure you identify which Lift the keys were dropped into ("Lift A", or "Lift B" or otherwise stated besoide the lift doorway).

Upon explanation of the situation, you will be adviced on the situation and the cost of recovering the keys.

SITUATION: Depending on from where you dropped your keys (Higher levels might mean the keys might be lodged on internal ledges above the lift floor, and cannot be guaranteed to be retrieved. The lift maintenance will check the base of the lift on the ground floor for the keys.

Mine was dropped from the second floor, so the chances are higher.

COST: A flat rate of SG$50 is to be paid in CASH, when the lift maintenance personnal from the comapny arrives to open the lift, in attempt to recover your keys.

TIMING: Upon confirmation with the Lift Servicing Co, I was told the reaction time would be "haldf an hour". I Do not know if this was the "standard" for all Lift Servicing Companies though.

And this only dawned on me at time of this post, but I did not ask if there was a specific timing allocated for this "receovery attempt" (in case this happened in the middle of the night), but would assume to be daylight working hours. Again, I currently have no information to share, cheers.

OPTION #2:
Contact your area's Town Council Maintenance, and check WHEN is their monthly Lift Maintenance (this was recommended by the Lift Maintenance company, because I wanted to save on the $50 :p). Depending on their scheduled maintenance day, you might have to wait.

On the scheduled maintenance day, I was contacted by the Town COuncil office (I left my number behind) to go to the lift lobby to meet up with the Lift Servce Company personnal to get my keys, having first left word with the Town Council, who would have left word with the service personnel. There is no need to divuldge the floor you live on, or your unit number.

I had waited about two+ weeks for the keys to be retrieved on the scheduled maintenance day.

CONCLUSION:
The reason why I decided to contact the Town Council, was simply "cost".

The cost of replacing the keys (dropped) was a total of SG$15 on my end (because there were already duplicates from other family member's keys) - not counting time and effort needed to get the keys replaced - compared to the SG$50 needed for "immediate" recovery.

Besides keys, it could be letters, memorabilia, anything small or thin enough to slip thru the gap.

Thank you for reading. Be careful of your things as you enter and exit the lift!
